'Check Bill' of Edmonston Colliery for the week of 14th January 1760
A printed copy of this was included as part of a report prepared for the Carron Company to demonstrate the method used at Edmonston for paying rent to the owners of leased coalfields, based on the amount of coal produced.
- The amount of coal produced by each collier is shown in hundredweights, and split into Great Coal (Gr.) and Small Coal (Sm.) - the small pieces of coal were worth about half the price of the large or great pieces.
- I have left out details of the rents paid and other parts of the accounts.
- Original spellings and abbreviations have been retained.
